- Client: Partners International
- Role: Roadmapping consultant
- Engagement: February 2023 (single engagement)
- Stack: Systems audit, vendor/CRM strategy, reporting
Partners International is a Canadian Christian mission agency. Donations come from individuals and organisations. They then pass through international partners doing on-the-ground work before being reported back to donors.
Several systems supported that process. A custom PHP and Angular donor app came from one vendor. Another maintained the WordPress public site, while a third handled donations. A separate CRM and accounting system added to the problem. Nothing was completely broken. However, the whole arrangement was difficult to understand and expensive to change.
I was asked to make sense of it. The Roadmapping engagement included:
- A full systems map showing who built and maintained each part, and where information moved between systems.
- Software strategy recommendations, including whether to consolidate, replace, or keep several vendors.
- Specific technical recommendations for analytics, online donations, public-site usability, and reporting.
The report ran to 30 pages. It gave the leadership team a clear order of work: what to fix first, what to tackle next, and what could wait.
